UPDATE- Campaign to save Temple of Aphrodite goes Viral

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –February 19, 2012

Since the launch of the ‘Save the Temple of Aphrodite Campaign’ the plight of this National Treasure and the treasonous act of sacrilege being proposed by local officials and the property owner has gained worldwide attention. Within days of our original press release, the campaign to save this irreplaceable monument, spread across the internet, causing outrage amongst Greeks and Philhellenes throughout the United States, Australia and Europe.

The battle, however, has just begun. As of this moment the Temple remains destined for entombment. The following is a video taken by the Movement to save the Temple of the goddess Aphrodite in Thessaloniki showing the current condition of the site as of February 2012;feature=share

Representatives of local effort to save the Temple have filed an application for the site to be cleaned and are awaiting a reply from the Department of Antiquities.
